William Parrott was born in Aveley Essex. He became a painter, watercolourist and lithographer. His subject matter included figures, landscapes, urban landscapes and architectural views.
Parrott studied under the engraver John Pye and then devoted himself to painting.
He travelled in Italy during 1844 and 1845, visited Germany in 1851 and made frequent trips to Brittany and Normandy.
He exhibited regularly in London, Suffolk Street from 1835 to 1869 and at the Royal Academy from 1836 to 1857.
In 1840 he published a series of lithographs depicting London and the Thames and in 1843 a dozen views of Paris and the Seine, titled Paris et ses Environs.
He is best known for his Italian views especially of Rome.
William Parrott died in Chilton in 1869.
