William Bromley was a London painter of historical and genre subjects. He was the Grandson of the engraver William Bromley (1769-1842) and father of Valentine Walter Bromley (1848-1877) who also became a painter.
William exhibited 187 works at Suffolk Street, the British Institution and at the Royal Academy from 1844-1870.
Bromley became a member of the Royal Society of British Artists in 1860 and exhibited 37 works there.
He also exhibited 6 at the Royal Society of Artists Birmingham and 2 at the Walker Art Gallery Liverpool.
The details in his interior cottage scenes are very authentic.
