John Yardley native of Beverley, Yorkshire was born in 1933.
He had no formal training and maintains that this has given him the freedom to find his own style.
Yardley has become one of the most accomplished and versatile wartercolourists of his generation.
He has the ability to capture the vitality of a scene with a few well-placed brush strokes. These particular skills lie in drawing the viewer’s eye into a composition by painting a passage of bright colour among muted tones, or sometimes conveying movement with a confident sweep of paint.
His artistic impulse is to paint what he sees with little embellishment. By drawing his subject, then painting it in one quick and direct application; he achieves a definitive sense of movement.

Yardley’s one-man shows have proved to be very successful.

Yardley has lived in Reigate, Surrey since 1961 and is married with three children.
