William Rogers was born in 1954 in Greenwich, CT, USA.
From 1973 to 1877 he was studying in New York at the School of Visual Arts and achieved, Bachelor of Fine Arts and was the sole recipient of the The Francis Criss Award in 1977
While still at College William began his commercial career painting realistic backdrops for commercial films. By 1986 his clients included the automobile, sports, music, film, and television industries. His work has appeared on the covers of Fashion of the Time Magazine, Life Magazine and numerous publications and commercials around The World. In 1987 he was featured on Evening Magazine in a segment called "Behind the Backdrops”.
As a realistic painter, his commercial success was thriving and so was his fine art, abstract painting. By this time he was being influenced by the abstraction inherent to realistic imagery.
Rogers first solo exhibition in 1994 was at the OK Harris Gallery in New York.
This exhibition consisted of realistic paintings of the sky with clouds.

This painting captures that fleeting moment when the sun has dropped so low in the sky that it illuminates the clouds from below. A magical moment at the days end.
