Painter of landscape, rustic genre scenes and portraits.
Born and studied in Birmingham. Came to London 1839.
He exhibited works at Suffolk Street, and was elected RBA in 1842, also at the RA 1845-68 and at the British Institute. His patroness was Baroness Burdett-Coutts. Hill frequently visited Ireland. Many of his works were reproduced lithographically for the “Illustrated London News”.
