Edward Niemann was the son of Edmund John Niemann
(1813-1876) the well know landscape painter.
Edward too became a landscape painter and exhibited two paintings at the British Institute in 1863 and 1867.
His style is similar to his father but coarser and broader in colour.
Despite living in London Edward travelled the Country widely and painted many views including those of Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Windsor, Kent and scenes from the river Thames.

Godshill Village is located between Newport and Ventnor in the south east of the Island. The thatched cottages are still standing today.
