Sidney Pike became a painter of landscapes and genre scenes.
He exhibited his work from 1885 to 1901at the Royal Academy and also at the Society of British Artists.
He also exhibited 12 paintings at the Royal Institute of Oil Painters and 1 at Manchester City Art Gallery.
He is recorded as living in Taplow, Bucks 1882; Christchurch, Hants 1889; Polesdown, Hants 1896 and London 1899; and spent most of his last years in Hastings.

His delightful landscapes show a remarkable deftness of touch, using a warm light palette of colours.
Pike lived a typical Bohemian artist’s life, moving house regularly and even eloping with the daughter of the publisher of the Evening Standard, with whom he had 6 children.
